If mom and dad are being abusive, know that it is NOT your fault. You are NOT alone.
When mom and dad fight, call anybody for help. After the fighting stops, Get To A Safe Place In Your Home and Try Breathing
Deeply, Like This… Take A Deep Breath Through Your Nose, Hold It At the Top For Four Counts 4-3-2-1 And Then Let It
Aaaalllll Out …
Do This About 3 Times Until You Feel A Little Bit Better…
When it’s time to go to school, say your Osso Safe Cheer which is ‘I Want to Live Where I am Osso Safe and I am Osso Safe with ‘fill in the blank with that person’s name’.
Maybe you feel the safest with an aunt, an uncle, a grandparent, a close family friend.
Think, Who is that person or people?
You know who makes you feel safe and free and respected and good. You, Kids, Know.
If you have no one who makes you feel safe, then you can say, “I Want to Live Where I am Osso Safe.” And That’s It and That’s
OK.
“I want to live where I am Osso Safe and I am Osso Safe with “fill in the blank”. Say this over and over again until it becomes true.
You Can Practice the Osso Safe cheer at School; in the Morning, During Snack, During Lunch, After School, or at After Care.
You Can Say the Cheer to Yourself Quietly, You Can Say The Cheer to Yourself Loudly, You Can Say The Cheer Out Loud Holding Hands With Your Friends At School.
Now, if you’re too scared to say who that person is, that’s ok. You don’t have to say anything; you could even say that you feel
safe with mom and dad, even if it’s not true. That’s ok.
If you’re too scared to say, that’s ok. When you’re ready, you’ll say who makes you feel safe.
This Cheer Will Help You Get Your Feelings Out and Start Healing. Things will get better; Osso Safe is working as fast as we can to make all of you kids, Osso Safe at home.”
